I wrote my first program from an SAP ABAP book 'ABAP Objects' which an experienced ABAP consultant recommended and lent me for a few days. I am really thankful to him for his recommendation ... as what great insight it gave me. First by chance it happened to be one of the greatest book ever on the subject. Secondly I had already decided my future path in favor of SAP ABAP, so the timing was right.
I believe that books connect us to the consciousness of the author and the learning flows. So I make it a point to go through any good book and/or other authentic literature on the subject matter I am working on. This really helps. It broadens my vision and the understanding as well. I came to know of this fact during my discussions with other consultants. In this section, I am discussing the books I am referring currently or used to refer in the past depending on the project requirements. I found them to be indispensable and excellent piece if work. All are from SAP Press. ABAP ObjectsFor beginners and for experienced SAP developers. Actually I will say - ABAP Objects is a must have for all ABAP developers. I am sure you will refer it again and again like me. A great piece of work from Horst Keller and Sascha Kruger. It covers ABAP development on SAP Netweaver platform.
Next Generation ABAP DevelopmentFor experienced SAP developers. Next Generation ABAP Development is about the latest features added to ABAP in recent years. The developers should keep updated with these technological changes as they are fastly becoming mainstream as more and more of them are being implemented.
mySAP HR Technical principles and programmingFor SAP HR developers. An excellent book explaining technical features of SAP HR module which otherwise remain foreign to most developers. Highly recommended.
Webdynpro for ABAPFor beginners and experienced SAP developers who wish to extend their skill-set to include Webdynpro for ABAP. I thought of Webdynpro to be complex and foreign to ABAP, due to web-interface and web technologies it uses. But this book quickly removed that impression. It talks with authority on the subject dispelling many of the misconceptions the SAP developers have. And then introduces you to Webdynpro for ABAP, called WD4A in short.
Advanced BSP ProgrammingFor BSP developers. I have never worked on BSP and just had a glance on a few pages of the book for an overview. Being a book from SAP press, it is an authentic and quality work and I believe should be the first publication on BSP. Like the above books which are the one of a kind in their respective areas, this one seems to have substance as I felt flipping through its pages. |
